As Dell continues to invest heavily in Enterprise Storage solutions portfolio, the demand to deliver a full range of product solutions to our end customers is increasing at a phenomenal pace. Dell’s Enterprise Storage Interoperability group is leading the effort to develop, test and document a full range of SAN ecosystem solutions that complement our broad portfolio of storage products within datacenter environments. As a senior SAN Interoperability Engineer, you are responsible for all aspects of SAN ecosystem planning, test development, end-to-end validation, analysis, issue resolution, vendor management for SAN switches and initiators across multiple storage targets. The output of your efforts will be used to communicate a broad knowledge base of support, best practices and implementation guidelines across a diverse set of internal engineering, marketing, sales, support and organizations in addition to our external customer base.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in storage HW and/or system design, implementing FC and iSCSI/Ethernet storage fabrics, including routing, switching, configuration, performance and high availability best practices
Strong expertise in networking and storage protocol standards: FC, FCoE, iSCSI, IPv4, IPv6, TCP/IP, SNMP, STP, 1/10Gb Ethernet, DCB/X, TRILL
Operating systems knowledge and/or previous experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Linux, VMware, Hyper-V and XEN
Expertise and/or working knowledge of the following: NAS and SAN storage, RAID, Ethernet/FC switches, iSCSI/FC/FCoE HBAs and initiators and x86 based server systems
Proficient with industry standard I/O load simulation tools: IOMeter, VDBench, WinThrax, Jetstress, SQLIO, Orion, FSCT etc.
Network protocol, tracing and debug tools experience: Finisar , Wireshark, Ethereal, TCPdump
Experience with server, network and storage performance monitoring and tuning tools
Solid understanding of Server/Switch/Storage hardware and software architectures
Strong learning, analytical and creative problem solving skills
Detail oriented with superb oral and written communication/presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to deliver multiple projects on schedule with competing resource demands Highly desired:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering with 8 years of related industry experience
Program management experience with small to medium complexity projects
