Systems Staff Engineer



Santa Clara, CA



Systems Engineer position who’s main tasks include proactively performing all necessary interoperability integration and validation of solution stacks based on Dell Servers, Networking and Storage subsystems, alongside multi-vendor Software ecosystem building blocks.



Role Responsibilities



-Analyze requirements, functional specifications, design specifications, technical plans or data sheets, and convert marketing requirements to working instructions



-Design, qualify, test, document, package and maintain Dell's HW/SW recommended solutions for our customers



-Design Test plans and usage cases to achieve the required objectives



-Perform compatibility/interoperability integration and validation of Solution Stacks HW and SW building blocks



-Lead the development of product documentation, solution deployment guides, white papers, best practices, reference architecture, and performance characterization



-Responsibilities in writing scripts to automate testing and solution stack deployment



- Interact with other Dell development teams, vendors and Dell partners as needed during interoperability testing or troubleshooting as needed



-Present and interact with internal and external customers, at technical and non-technical levels, to communicate findings, recommendations, issue resolutions, etc



Qualifications



Requirements



-Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science with 4+ years of relevant hands-on experience, or a Bachelor's Degree in one of the above fields with 8+ years of relevant hands-on experience



-Quick learner, motivated self-starter, innovative problem-solver, with good analytical and organizational skills



-Ability to lead a project or handling escalations independently as well as part of a team environment



-Strong, hands-on experience with Windows and Linux operating systems



-Strong, hands-on expertise/knowledge in System level integration, testing, and troubleshooting



-Deep technical HW/SW expertise and knowledge in a variety of areas such as: Servers, OSes, Clustering, Databases, Applications, Networking, and Storage (SAN, DAS, NAS switches, backup) on Dell / non-Dell platforms



-Knowledge or hands-on experience with performance characterization at a system/solution stack level, understanding of performance bottleneck and their resolution techniques, and analysis of collected data



Preferences



-Knowledge and experience in scripting languages like Shell, Perl, Python, etc
