Job Description
Dell Inc.'s wholly owned subsidiary Dell Services Federal Government, Inc. (DSFG) is seeking an Oracle Database Administrator for our Chesapeake, VA location. The primary responsibilities of the Oracle DBA are the design, build, ongoing maintenance, failure avoidance, detection and repair of the Oracle database and e-Business Suite applications environments and the multiple components within the Oracle technology stack.
As a member of the Oracle DBA team, you will be responsible for the 24x7 availability of mission critical production environments as well as all aspects of administration for non-production environments. You will be expected to perform multiple functions, including the resolution of production problems and assisting users with issues beyond what front-line support are able to resolve.
o Designs logical and physical databases and/or review description of changes to database design to understand how changes affect the physical database.
o Tests and corrects errors, and refines changes to optimize database performance.
o Confers with co-workers to determine impact of database changes and provides level of effort estimates to manager for making changes to database for all project efforts.
o Performs database tuning to increase processing performance, and closely monitors usage, storage space, and other influences on database performance.
o Runs ad-hoc queries and reports for users in a timely manner and runs required monthly reports for manager and any others upon request.
o Design and execute database backup and recovery procedures including disaster recovery.
o Create and modify stored procedures as data sources for application and reports.
o Required to provide technical input for creation of policies, procedures and associated documentation.
o Provide level of effort estimates to manager for project efforts.
o Research and investigate problems and develop viable solutions and/or workarounds; report findings and recommendations clearly and effectively to team.
o Work with the Document Management Specialist to record all routine procedures and update appropriate documentation as needed.
o Works with configuration management to keep all database-related information up to date.
o Candidate must be willing to support cross-training initiatives to ensure system maintainability and be willing to train/mentor junior-level DBA's.
Strong experience with:
* Implementation and support of large Oracle EBS environments
* Enterprise Manager Grid Control
* Backup and recovery concepts and RMAN
* Data warehousing and OBIEE
* Oracle RAC
* Performance problem identification and remediation
* Linux/Unix
* Strong verbal, written, organizational and documentation skills
* Ability to provide accurate and realistic effort estimates, commit and deliver accordingly
* Proven analytical and problem solving skills; creative thinking
* Ability to work in a fast paced environment with occasional non-business hours (evenings and weekends) flexibility and able to prioritize and juggle multiple projects
* Ability to work productively in a team environment and participate as a positive and cooperative team member
* IT engineering experience supporting projects and systems of similar size, scope and technical complexity to those supported under this contract.
This position is open to US citizens only and requires at least a Secret Clearance.
Required Skills
-Oracle DBA and production support experience, including Oracle 10g and 11g
-Oracle Apps DBA with Oracle EBS 11.5.10 and R12 Strong understanding of Oracle RDBMS architecture

Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT Engineering or related degree program is preferred
