Job Description



Position Summary:

Dell Services, Federal Government is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to work as a Dell employee in a Monitoring Operations Center at a customer site in Atlanta. The mission of the MOC is to provide monitoring of the computing infrastructure for any anomalies to minimize the effect on the customer computing experience by taking preemptive actions to minimize interruption of service and improve reliability.



The position involves monitoring applications, networks and devices, and servers using the OPNET product, WhatsUp Gold, Wireshark, Microsoft SCOM 2012, and other tools. As a member of a team responsible for a smooth operation, the goal is to ensure continuous availability and optimal performance. A thorough understanding of computer networking is required. We intend to maintain a proactive environment in order to avoid extended outages or performance degradation. The right candidate must be team-oriented and a fast learner who combines excellent operational judgment with outstanding troubleshooting and communications skills. You will need to maintain a high sense of urgency and focus, while staying cool under pressure. You must be able to work any one of three shifts in support of a 24-hour, seven-day operation.



Responsibilities include:

Utilizing monitoring tools to determine faults with devices on the Enterprise IT network and the network itself.

Utilizing analysis tools to assist in determine the root causes of faults to the monitored node.

Escalating of incidents with detailed fault information to the appropriate escalation group.

Following documented procedures to report and analyze system alerts and identify the root cause.

Collaborating with other MOC staff and Level 3 responders to quickly identify the root cause of outages.

Producing emergency notifications in a timely manner with a sufficient level of detail.

Troubleshooting and escalating alarms and alerts within SLA response times.

Issuing daily reports following established MOC procedures.

Required Skills



* The ability to work any shift in a 24 hours x 7 days per week operation

* Ability to communicate clearly with attention to detail in a team environment, excellent communications skills, including the ability to write concise analysis summaries and actions reports

* Ability to organize, multi-task, and time management

* Demonstrated working knowledge of computer networking and fault isolation

* 6+ years of documented experience with ITIL processes used to manage and resolve incidents. Demonstrated working knowledge of incident response management, including preparation, identification, containment, remediation, recovery, and lessons learned

* Demonstrated understanding of the synergy between technology and business processes

* 6+ years of documented experience working in a high volume, operations environment, strong organization skills and the ability to handle many tasks and projects simultaneously in a high-pressure environment with rapidly changing priorities and deadlines

* MOC Analyst & MOC Senior Analyst experience

* 6+ years of documented experience using monitoring tools like A+, Network+, CCNA, OPNET/RiverBed, MS SCOM 2012, WhatsUp Gold, and Wireshark to proactively address alerts and potential hardware and software performance issues

* 3+ years of documented experience MOC Analyst & MOC Senior Analyst experience, along with Help Desk

* 3-5+ years of documented experience Cisco Systems-Cisco network technologies monitoring network technologies in a large enterprise

* 3+ years of documented experience using Wireshark for packet level analysis, 3-5 years of deep packet analysis to identify performance issues in a large enterprise.

* 3+ years of documented experience in OPNET/RiverBed-advanced certification using OPNET application & network performance monitoring tools or 3-5 years of experience using comparable technologies

* 3-5+ years of documented experience with enterprise Microsoft technologies (SQL, SharePoint, Server, Forefront, Active Directory).
