Job Description
Dell Services Federal Government (DSFG) is looking for a software (web) developer to deliver world-class web applications through all phases of the systems development lifecycle. Activities include evaluation, analysis, documentation of requirements/use-cases, and translation into proper technical solution specifications. Many projects will deliver synchronous/asynchronous integration using services (SOA). Formulation and definition of scope and objectives based on both end-user needs and a thorough understanding of business needs and business processes. Understanding of the business implications of implemented solutions, and assisting in defining the solutions to support any future business requirements. Project methodologies include iterative, agile and waterfall.
The ideal Web Developer may participate in designing or developing requirements for the underlying hardware (or VM) and software infrastructure to support any of the following requirements: general" high availability, application/database server clustering, load balancing and systems/applications monitoring.
The selected developer will be ultimately responsible for understanding customer requirements, designing and creating appropriate design artifacts for review/approval and developing applications/services to meet the requirements. Developer will provide necessary unit and integration testing.
Required Skills
Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance with polygraph is required
-4 years experience creating functional and technical design specifications that support business requirements
-4 years of strong and recent programming skills in Java, Ruby on Rails or advanced query/data manipulation languages in support of Big Data"
-4 years experience in relational database design and SQL, preferably Oracle, or nosql databases like Hadoop and Cassandra
-4 years strong skills in various user interface development (e.g. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, JQuery, Ext JS) using various frameworks (e.g. Spring, Struts, Hadoop)
-4 years of success in and strong desire to quickly ramp-up on new technologies
-4 years of excellent technical trouble-shooting skills in areas relevant to software application architecture
-4 years experience in operating in an development environment controlled by a team-shared software configuration management system (e.g. subversion) supporting multiple operating environments (e.g. development, testing, production)
Desired Skills
* Experience with open-source tools that automate both unit and regression testing (e.g. junit, Selenium)
* Experience with continuous integration and open source tools that support it (Jenkins, Hudson, Maven, Git)
* Experience with Amazon Web Services and APIs supporting the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud
* Experience with web/application server configuration, primarily Apache HTTP/Tomcat
* Experience with writing (or rewriting) stateless web applications/web services
* Experience with Unix/Linux commands (i.e. shell scripting)
Education
Bachelors degree in Computer science or engineering or related field. Experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.

Typically requires at least 10* years relevant experience without a Degree; 4+ years relevant experience with Undergraduate Degree; 3+ years relevant experience with Graduate Degree
