Research Manager, Audience Insights

Are you passionate about telling stories through data and market research? Are you an audience or vertical research expert with a track record for trying new research methods to surface actionable insights about B2B audiences?
We are looking for a marketing research manager to lead our Audience Insights team of 3-4 researchers. This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly formed and evolving team focused on leveraging research to uniquely position LinkedIn and our platform across all of our business lines. This team drives strategic research around key audiences and verticals that will play a significant role in our marketing efforts, primarily for B2B, Financial Services, Education and Technology thought leadership and content marketing. Our goal is to create research and data-driven insights to power the world’s most effective enterprise sales and marketing engine.
Job responsibilities:
- Develop a long-term strategy and roadmap for our marketing research activity across key audiences and verticals (including Financial Services, Education, B2B, Technology, Staffing and Recruitment) providing clear milestones and success metrics
- Oversee a team who is building and managing global research projects across LinkedIn’s business lines (Marketing Solutions, Talent Solutions and Sales Solutions) working closely with the Marketing teams to prioritize and highlight resource trade-offs
- Position LinkedIn as a thought leader in marketing research by creating global strategic research initiatives that leverage our survey capabilities with unique LinkedIn data assets
- Comfortable using a combination of internal data, primary and syndicated research to build compelling narratives that address business needs and make actionable recommendations based on the findings
- Manage and inspire a team of 3-4 researchers who will be executing your roadmap and managing research projects end-to-end, both in-house and through research partners
- Work with internal Research Ops leads to improve processes and share best practices with the team, as well as develop and coach junior team members on research
- Reports to the head of global research, GSO Insights
Basic Requirements:
- BA/BS in relevant field of study (e.g. market research, psychology, marketing, communications, consulting or analytics)
- At least 5 years’ experience in market research, qualitative and quantitative research analysis with strong customer-facing, consultative expertise.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven track record for delivering strategic thought leadership research and managing industry-leading global research projects working with global sales, marketing and PR teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience sourcing and managing internal and 3rd party research teams; strong budget management and negotiation skills
- Passion for turning data into actionable insights and strong ability to tell stories with data
- Strategic thinker and problem solver – able to be a trusted thought partner and provide big ideas based on research and insights to our marketing partners
- Able to clearly manage expectations and juggle multiple stakeholders at various levels of seniority in a cross-matrix organization
- Dynamic, creative and persuasive communication skills and actionable research presentations
- Able to successfully find scale and leverage across our research initiatives and business lines and demonstrate success through business impact
- MBA preferred
