Strategic Sourcing Manager

The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for partnering with the business to define, build and maintain the global strategic sourcing framework for the Global Workplace (“Facilities”) team, manage spend and sourcing strategies for the assigned categories and embodies LinkedIn’s values:

This role requires a customer orientation with emphasis on leadership, strong analysis, category expertise, global experience, and a passion for driving innovation and solutions. The successful candidate will have a strong sense of ownership of the whole customer experience.



This position requires seasoned experience with strategic sourcing methodologies related to indirect procurement commodities including market and spend analysis, building and maintaining a Category Plan, partnering with BU leadership to define priorities, report progress and manage performance of the Category Plan. The Category Manager directly manages key spend areas and directs performance of other category purchases. In addition the Strategic Sourcing Manager monitors supplier performance.



The Strategic Sourcing Manager will be responsible for analyzing category spend, defining preferred suppliers and category strategy, reviewing strategy alternatives with the business partners, selecting and implementing sourcing strategies, executing sourcing actions, including RFP management, supplier negotiations, and administration of supplier relationships and agreements on a global level.



SPECIFIC DUTIES:




  • The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for maintaining the Global Workplace relationship and customer experience in its relations with the VMSS (Vendor Management and Strategic Sourcing) team.

  • Partner with internal customers to align on priorities, strategies to drive scale, global alignment, define and execute against strategic sourcing goals.

  • Be the Customer voice into the VMSS team, driving operational excellence into VMSS global practices and conversely evangelize the VMSS value proposition to the Workplace team

  • Demonstrated commodity expertise in Workplace categories as appropriate for a high growth large international company perspective.

  • Define and execute Category Management Strategy

  • Be the subject matter expert and business intelligence resource for Global Workplace

  • Be the Program Manager for key global initiatives

  • Engage with the Workplace leadership to identify and proactively focus on major spend initiatives or opportunities to drive growth and optimal cost savings, utilizing internal and external business intelligence, networking, and other tools.

  • Propose and drive opportunities for optimal cost savings through analysis of current spend and external category analysis and benchmarking.

  • Lead or facilitate the supplier selection, Request for Proposal (RFP) projects and negotiation process to deliver agreements that include optimal pricing models, measurable service level/performance criteria, effective remedies for non-performance, mechanisms for monitoring performance/remedies, etc.

  • Facilitate the development of programs to control and automate appropriate categories.

  • Manage the assigned supplier base through supplier scorecards and quarterly business reviews.

  • Partner with Legal team to ensure negotiations result in optimal terms.

  • In conjunction with the legal team, develop MSA and Contracts specific to trade(s) and function.

  • Partner with Legal and Global Compliance to understand the business needs

  • Work with Vendor Management staff and other departments as a team player to achieve desired goals.

  • Effectively partner with internal stakeholders to align VMSS and stakeholder on initiatives and strategies to achieve them.




JOB REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:




  • Relationship management-communication, negotiation, leadership, project management.

  • Problem Solver able to use external tools, networks, internal and external intelligence to find solutions for high growth global environment

  • Flexibility-ability to calibrate to changes, reprioritization of goals in an extremely fast paced environment

  • Expertise in contracts, terms, and negotiation, competitive bidding, pricing analysis

  • Ability to define sourcing strategy in collaboration with team, and manage execution of the plan

  • Knowledgeable in ERP Systems, Oracle 12 preferred Experience with report writing tools, OBIEE preferred

  • Ability to understand and mitigate risk associated with Supplier activity

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Analytical ability (data analysis) and creative problem solving

  • Assertive but flexible

  • Independent Judgment and Initiative

  • Confidence in dealing with other departments, outside representatives and upper management

  • Experienced in Construction and other Facilities transactions.




EXPERIENCE:




  • 8+ years experience in purchasing related background.

  • 8+ years industry experience in both operations and construction including but not limited to sourcing project management consultants, general contractors, furniture vendors, etc.

  • Past experience in managing multiple commodity areas and effectively procuring goods/services in a fast paced work environment is required


EDUCATION/TRAINING:

BA/BS degree in business, supply chain management or other related field. Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) a plus.
