LEAD MACHINE LEARNING SCIENTIST- PREMIUM DATA PRODUCTS



ABOUT THE ROLE

LinkedIn is looking for a lead applied machine learning scientist to lead relevance optimization and data product development for its Premium suite of products. You will be the technical leader that shapes the relevance agenda for LinkedIn's Premium suite of products, and direct a team of software engineers, applied researchers and data scientists.





RESPONSIBILITIES

Set the relevance agenda and develop the next generation of Premium data products to deliver on LinkedIn’s value propositions in collaboration with partner teams in product, marketing, etc.

Develop machine learning models to deliver highly personalized and delightful member experiences for our subscriber-base.

Lead and mentor research engineers on applying advanced machine learning techniques to critical business problems.

Represent LinkedIn in academic and industry circles showcasing our innovation, data products and scientific expertise in bringing game-changing data products to market.



REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE




PhD in CS/Statistics/ Operations Research or a similar quantitative discipline from a top tier university

5+ years hands on experience working with large datasets (TBs) on Distributed Systems

Strong command of software engineering practices at a large scale internet company

Strong background in machine learning and data mining with a deep understanding of unsupervised and supervised learning methods. Proficiency in methods such as Gradient Boosted Decision Trees, Matrix Factorization, Kernel Methods, LDA, or Multi-armed Bandits.

Outstanding collaboration and communication skills with a proven ability to work cross functionally in order to establish and meet shared goals

Experience building and shipping data products.





PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Experience with newer approaches such as Deep Learning or Non-parametric Bayesian methods.

Strong track record of publications in premier data mining and machine learning conferences.
