This Director of Development role is a leadership role in a company rated a Best Place to Work and Most Innovative. This role will do a broad variety of things, from interpreting division strategy, to providing direction to the product teams to meet goals to assuring we create quality products quickly, on-budget, to working with senior managers. - Perform personnel and salary administration.
- Develop subordinates through example, training and delegation.
- Address personnel issues in a correct and timely manner.
- Consult with and make recommendations to senior management on new and existing product directions.
- Coordinate activities and communications between other product teams, the field, other divisions, and clients.
- Monitor current project status (schedule content and quality), corrects discrepancies, and coordinates directional issues with senior management.
- Develop, control and monitor budget, prepare status reports.
- Develop and maintain departmental standards and procedures.
Experience, Skills, Academic:
The successful Director of Development here will have:
- A BA or BS in Computer Science, Math, Business Administration or a related discipline. Or equivalent experience and/or other software development management and significant and related educational experience in lieu.
You should have:
- Extensive knowledge in the areas of operations, finance, project management, and general management of people.
- 8+ years of management experience, preferably in a software development organization, in addition to 10+ years in data processing varying job experience from programming, design, and systems analysis, and project leadership.
- Effective writing and public speaking skills.
- An ability to manage a multi-functional organization.
Be aware:
- You may directly supervise up to 12 associates, both management & non-management.
- Your budget responsibility varies depending on the scope & size of the group.
- You will generally accomplish results through managers and supervisors.
- You must be able to balance multiple priorities.
- You will have an ability to understand the client’s business issues and translate them into business solutions.
