Our Product Quality Operations team has the critical responsibility of protecting Google's users by ensuring online safety by fighting web abuse and fraud across Google products like Search, Maps, AdWords and AdSense. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic leader. You understand the user's point of view and are passionate about using your combined technical, sales and customer service acumen to protect our users. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google developers and Product Managers to navigate challenging online safety situations and handle abuse and fraud cases at Google speed (read: fast!). As a Communications Associate, you’ll provide multi-faceted support to Product Quality Operations (PQO) and our senior executives in order to devise and execute effective communications and materials that inform the organization and stakeholder of our key initiatives, metrics and accomplishments. With a strong sense of PQO's voice and culture, you’ll spot and pursue important communications opportunities to reach out to the team in a compelling way that informs, engages and inspires employees.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain effective collaboration/communication with regional teams and cross-functional partners in Engineering, Product and Policy (among others).
- Support PQO teams in developing strategies for communicating to employees using various channels (emails, FAQs, town halls/presentations, videos, Google+ and more); craft comprehensive presentation decks that convey strategic business/organizational news, key project updates and new developments.
- Partner with PQO leaders to ensure consistent and informative communications are being developed and delivered.
- Operate with a high degree of organizational skills, thoroughness and attention to detail; leverage strong writing/editing, storytelling and visual/design skills to craft compelling print and web-based materials for communications campaigns.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and creative problem solving to navigate shifting priorities; monitor and analyze effectiveness of communications, using learnings to tailor messaging and tactics that maximize impact.
Minimum qualifications
- BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in communications, marketing or advertising.
Preferred qualifications
- Excellent planning skills including attention to detail, information organization, timeline tracking, and comprehensive communication and collaboration across many teams and at all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated success operating with flexibility in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- Ability to build relationships and encourage others to express views; Adept at drawing out diverse opinions.
- Familiarity with employing varied communications tools and technologies (written, visual/graphics, social media, video editing/production).
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including active listening and the ability to adapt communication and work style based on cultural differences.
