Security Center Ops Senior Analyst – Edinburgh Role Overview:
Working in a Security Operations Center, the (IF) Senior Analyst is expected to perform all the duties of an IE team member as well as, assist with special projects for HIT SE and Management, work critical outages, handle customer escalations, and mentor IE team members. Additionally, this position provides intermediate to advanced level troubleshooting support for all devices managed and monitored by the Health & Infrastructure Team. All work is tracked via a ticket based CRM system. Applicants must demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, possess excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, and be capable of maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
Role Responsibilities:
• Take ownership of and troubleshoot tickets generated by the health monitoring system.
• Resolve problems introduced into client networks including, but not limited to misconfiguration and device failure.
• Remotely manage client devices and correct problems whilst adhering to change control processes.
• Demonstrate excellent communication and client care skills by documenting all analysis work and communications within a ticketing system.
• Professionally and courteously manage client communications ranging from authenticating callers to creating and/or updating tickets for all work and client concerns.
• Identify internal SecureWorks infrastructure outages and escalate to the appropriate teams for resolution on a wide variety of systems.
• Participate in disaster recovery meetings, testing, and reporting.
• Be primary point of contact for information and issue resolution of critical outages.
• Mentor and train new hires to support business growth and a high quality of service.
• Develop and document appropriate health troubleshooting techniques and guides for new platforms and provide Knowledge Based articles by working with senior engineers as new product offerings are being created to improve the speed and accuracy of problem resolution by the Health Team.
Qualifications Requirements:
• Significant theoretical and industry based knowledge of working with security appliance technology or Linux based hardware platforms
• Understanding of intrusion detection, firewall operations, and other general security practices
• Strong understanding of Unix or Linux operating
• Obtaining system statistics such as CPU, memory, disk, network interface utilisation from the command line.
• Identifying potential problems from system logs.
• Solid understanding of computer network fundamentals including address resolution protocol, routing, network address translation, virtual private networks and the OSI model.
• Ability to read and interpret network diagrams.
Education:
• Completion of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Network Security, Information Security and Information Technology is desirable or educated to degree level with the relevant work experience
Preferences:
Certifications - One or both of the following would be an advantage:
• Cisco or A+/Linux certifications
• Previous theoretical and industry based knowledge of working within the Security Industry
