Applied Data Mining Intern

You will help develop or refine models to drive member growth, member engagement, or monetization for LinkedIn's largest product line: LinkedIn Talent Solution. You will be exposed to some of the most exciting new technologies in computer science and machine learning.



Responsibilities:

• Analyze, mash-up and mine massive amounts of data to extract useful business insights


• Build data-driven predictive models for customer segmentation and campaign optimization


• Build world class data mining framework to enable team to mine intensive social network data quickly and easily


• Backend software engineering to build scalable solutions and help automate data processing

Requirements:

• Strong programming experience in Python, Java, C/C++ or equivalent. Hive and Pig experience desired but not required.


• Familiar with R or other statistical packages for clustering, classification, and text mining


• Proficiency in a Unix/Linux environment for automating processes with shell scripting


• Experience with relational databases and SQL


• Front-end development experience is a plus


• Strong communications skills and not afraid to influence without authority


• Driven and self-motivated


• Creative, collaborative, tenacious and resourceful


• In final year of a BS, MS or PhD degree program in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or related technical field
