Senior Systems Engineer - Round Rock, TX (firmware engineer, embedded systems engineer, etc)



Dell is seeking Senior Systems Engineers to join the Enterprise Server Platform Development team in Austin, TX. As part of this team, you will help bring to market the next generation of servers based on the most advanced processors, chipsets, memory architectures, and I/O technology in the industry.



The position requires responsibility of the development of PowerEdge servers. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of computer architecture, Electrical Engineering concepts, system-level debug with some experience in board design/layout preferred. The ideal candidate would also have experience working effectively across teams, and have experience working with global team members. And the ability to work in a fast paced environment, take on new challenges, and quickly ramp up on new technologies is crucial.

Role Responsibilities:

- Working closely with and driving global extended teams such as board design, embedded firmware, systems management, mechanical engineering, and validation to meet schedule commitments

- Quickly debugging and root-causing design, factory and field issues that arise during development and into product volume launch.

- Generating and maintaining internal documentation, and supporting the creation of external documentation

- Creation and execution of system unit test plans

- Management/tracking of defects opened against the platform or a subsystem

- Exemplifying engineering rigor with a focus on product quality and customer satisfaction at all times



Requirements:

- BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering and 5+ years of related experience

- Strong background in hardware or system design and debugging

- Experience with computer systems hardware design including processor, memory, and I/O subsystems



Preferences:

- Enterprise computing systems design

- Systems management design and debugging

- Firmware level design and debugging

- Embedded system design

- High speed digital design

- Modular Systems design
