Job Description



We are looking for talented individuals to join our Database Consulting team working with Dell Services customers in the D.C. area. Individuals will have the opportunity to work in a professional atmosphere, with different project teams, and with the latest Database technologies. Our team members work remotely from their home office, with up to 25% travel to customer sites. This position can be a remote/home based position with travel to the client sites as required.



The Database Administration Manager will plan and coordinate the resources that manage relational databases to ensure accurate, secure, and effective use of databases. Also, the manager will support the customer as a senior Oracle Database consultant evaluating customer Oracle database requirements and develop optimal solutions to address their needs. The successful candidate will be able to document designs, configurations and project results. Provide hands-on delivery of production deployment and migration. In addition, this person will lead large, complex Oracle database deployments, Migrations (Unix to Linux), consolidations and upgrades projects. The successful candidate will provide knowledge transfer to internal team members, customer technical staff as well as provide technical briefings to customer management.



Required Skills



Oracle database migration 9, 10G to 11G.

The role requires both broad and deep technology knowledge to architect solutions by mapping a customer's business problem to an end-to-end technology solution

The Consultant should possess a strong knowledge of Linux operating system setup and configuration required to support an Oracle database infrastructure (MS Windows OS is Optional)

Expert level knowledge of Oracle database required.

The following Database skills are required:

7+ years of hands-on technical and design experience with Oracle Enterprise technologies

2+ years customer consulting experience in the Federal Market place

Oracle Database: Oracle 9i, Oracle 10g, Oracle 11g, Oracle RAC (9i, 10g & 11gR2), Oracle Collaboration Suite, Oracle Data Guard, Oracle Streams, Oracle Grid Control, Oracle RMAN, Database platform migration, Database Upgrade (patches, 9i to 10g to 11g etc.), Oracle Data Recovery, OCFS/Raw Devices, Oracle ASM, Oracle security, and Oracle Datamasking, Database Vault, Labeling

Design , development and administration of Oracle databases

Performance monitoring, reporting and database tuning

Reviewing and tuning of SQL & PL/SQL code using explain plans

Individual should have a mix of advanced technology and practical operational acumen

Strong analytical and communications skills, as well as the ability to resolve complex technical problems

Ability to lead and manage geographically dispersed team members.



Desired Skills



Experience using migration tools such as Quest and Goldengate, etc.

Familiar with other databases like DB2, My SQL and SQL Server

Familiar with Solaris, AIX, HPUX

Familiar with virtualization technologies such as VMWare and Oracle Virtual Server

Oracle Certified Professional

Knowledgeable about various Storage products - EMC, Netapp and Dell Equalogic systems(Optional)



Education



Bachelor's Degree in related discipline



Experience



Typically requires at least 15 years relevant experience without Degree; 10 years relevant experience with Undergraduate Degree; 5 years relevant experience with Graduate Degree; 3 years managerial experience
