Technical Program Manager, Android for Education

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.



We're revolutionizing K-12 education by creating an easy way for educators to get the most engaging, timely, and diverse content onto Android tablets in their classrooms. We are working across tablets and the marketplace to make a solution that enables schools and teachers to easily introduce and use technology in their classrooms. You are a Technical Program Manager who will organize, manage, drive and help create the future direction of our device OEM program.



Responsibilities

• Work directly with multiple engineering teams and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure productivity and progress on multiple concurrent projects.


• Work with product management to ensure OEM program and device roadmap aligns with overall goals and meet leadership requirements.


• Engage directly with people from different projects and partners, communicate well both within Google and outside, and manage project timelines.


• Develop and deliver partner website explaining Android for Education’s OEM program, requirements, and technical specifications.


• Develop and manage projects and processes that decrease resource cost and improve delivery time of OEM device certification process.

  Minimum qualifications
  


• Bachelor’s degree in a technical or related field or equivalent practical experience.


• Technical program management experience with 5 years of experience managing technical projects interfacing with cross-functional teams and external partners.

  Preferred qualifications
  


• Experience in applying project management techniques.


• Capability to think strategically, balancing a broad range of internal and external factors when identifying problems, proposing solutions, and making decisions.


• Strong technical skills with OSes/Android/OEMs. Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking and analytical skills.


• Strong attention to detail balanced by the ability to envision and communicate the “big picture”. Ability to deal with ambiguity and change.


• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence people and get results without having direct authority. Highly organized, adaptable, and tenacious.


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; communicate clearly and effectively with multiple and diverse stakeholders across businesses, leadership and teams.
