About the Role:
We’re looking for a dynamic leader to drive the Quality Engineering efforts for Salesforce’s Big Data initiative. There are several teams (including global) that will roll into this position where you will combine superior leadership skills, a strong systems background and web scale experience, including NoSQL systems such as HBase, Hadoop and file stores. Understanding how the infrastructure plays into this from both a systems and network perspective is imperative. You have an unending passion and drive for instilling a quality first approach across all disciplines in the development lifecycle. You will be a driver of continuous technical and process improvements in the test effort including a strong concentration of destructive testing, service oriented test techniques, the application of agile methodologies, and metric driven analysis and adjustments release over release. As a senior leader you will balance the mentoring and growth of your organization with driving tactical and strategic objectives in an assertive, fast-growing, mission-critical Quality Engineering organization.
Expectations in this role encompass:
- Managing individuals as well as managers in a global team
- Bring a quality mindset to our Big Data teams including creation of comprehensive quality plans for every scrum team
- Help to shape and refine the service delivery lifecycle to setup teams for success for fast and consistently high quality delivery.
- Assisting your teams in the development of all testing-related documentation, including test plans, test cases/scripts, and bug reports assessing quality and associated risk
- Ensuring test planning, execution, and reporting is effective, efficient, standardized, coordinated, and integrated.
- This position requires healthy doses of initiative and the ability to remain flexible and responsive in a very dynamic environment.
- Daily management of objectives, priorities, tradeoffs, risk and performance management of all reporting staff.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a computer science or related discipline; Master's degree preferred or equivalent experience
- Collaborating across functional organizations in development, documentation, network, systems and Data Center Engineering
- 10+ years Quality experience
- 4+ years management experience in complex environments
- Technical expertise and experience with HBase or equivalent
- Thorough understanding service oriented architecture and mass scale web systems
- In depth experience with test automation techniques including both home grown and off the shelf
- Must be self-motivated and independent
- Must be a hands-on contributor while managing a large team
- Must be detail oriented, well-organized and able to multi-task
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
