The Windows Systems Administrator IV for Automation and Configuration Management has shared responsibility for the design, implementation and optimization of configuration management solutions within ADP's Platform Engineering team. The primary responsibility will be to develop and maintain Puppet modules utilized in the automation and orchestration of self-provisioning models for private and public cloud services. This includes process development, infrastructure design, system implementation and configuration of solutions to support the Puppet infrastructure and integration with cloud infrastructure services consumed by internal ADP Dealer Services departments; service catalog development and integration of automated server, network and storage provisioning, application and platform stack deployment. As a member of the Platform Engineering team, you will be involved in IT infrastructure projects that will optimize current services as well as deploy and integrate new technologies for ADP, including solutions to mature configuration management and automation. The Systems Engineer will contribute to the overall success of the Global Hosting Services team by providing recommendations and insight into the technological paths toward the automation of infrastructure services.
General Job duties:
- Support a large infrastructure of 5000+ Windows based servers covering both internal IT and internet facing hosting solutions.
- On point escalation for day-to-day support covering all systems in the infrastructure. (The team is international and uses a follow the sun model for support coverage. After hours on-call for escalations is rotated among team.)
- Work with management and team members to develop strategies and initiatives for the Global Hosting Windows PlatEng Team.
- Review and discuss technical issues, assess and document recommended changes, SLAs, process and support improvements.
Specific Job duties:
- Analyzes, acquires, installs, modifies and supports Windows operating systems.
- Automation/scripting and systems support activities, including system integration and monitoring.
- Analyze and troubleshoot Active Directory components, including Group Policy and DNS.
- Creates and maintains documentation of systems processes and procedures
- Resolves complex requests escalated by junior administrators or NOC.
- Serves as a mentor for junior administrators and NOC support.
- Work with various teams to ensure system configurations are in compliance with corporate policies and control standards.
- Works with other team members to identify and suggest service improvements and/or new technology solutions.
- Work with Network and Storage teams to plan and design new server/application implementations
Experience, Skills, Academic:
Required:
- 5+ years of working with Windows Server operating systems environments
- Good knowledge of Network, SAN, security compliance and VMWare virtualization technology.
- Excellent understanding of Windows OS 2003 and Newer. (Only Server operating systems applicabl.)
- Strong understanding of DNS, TCP/IP, Active Directory and group policy, IIS, SMTP, Load Balancing, MS Clustering.
- Ability to work with a variety of development environments and platforms
- Current knowledge of industry trends and innovations.
- Strong troubleshooting and communications skills.
Preferred:
- MCSE/MCSA Certification. VCP Certification. Powershell scripting. Enterprise concepts.
- 2+ years working with Puppet in a Windows
