Job Description



Dell Services Federal Government, Inc. (DSFG) is looking for a Sr. Network Engineering Advisor. The Sr. Network Engineering advisor plans, designs and develops local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization, participating in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. Primary role will be Plano, TX based providing engineering and operational functions for a large, government enterprise.



Responsibilities include:

Defines network business requirements and implements effective global network strategies.

Designs secure network solutions that maximize the sharing of applications, information, and resources across the company.

Coordinates with multiple vendors/departments to procure network-related hardware, software, and services.

Investigates and resolves problems, inefficiencies, and performance issues.

Creates and shares roadmap and technical support to determine network business needs throughout the company.

Evaluates, tests, recommends, and implements specific network solutions.

Researches emerging network technologies and makes recommendations based on future business needs.

Schedules and coordinates installation and maintenance of standard software/hardware on the network and ensures compatibility of all communications and computer hardware/software.

Provides ongoing information to leadership, customers, and peers regarding health of the environment, enhancements, innovations and secure network solutions.

Designs and manages global network infrastructure



Required Skills



8+ years related experience in Cisco switch and routing

8+ years in understanding of L2/L3 switching and MPLS (WAN) technologies

8+ years in project implementation, management and network technology implementation experience required

5+ years in IPv6 experience or certifications

Industry Certification: Ex: CCNP or CCDP

8+ years of expert knowledge of Network Systems and emerging technologies from all Network and Network Appliance vendors.

4+ years of knowledge in other areas of Infrastructure Design and Management.

8+ years knowledge of support and administration of Network Management tools.

8+ years of experience supporting Firewalls, Load Balancers, Traffic Shapers (ISP) and VPN services.

8+ years of experience in WAN/MPLS and Fiber/Sonet Technology design & support experience required.



Desired Skills



Preferred CCIE level certification

8+years with strong switch, security and routing background

Strong Understanding of L2/L3 switching and MPLS (WAN) technologies

8+ years of experience with Firewall & Load Balancer technologies a plus

Experience with Nexus, Juniper a plus

8+ years of experience with Network monitoring tools (NetQos and Solarwinds, i.e.)

8+ years of experience with Steelhead optimization appliances

Citrix and Netscaler experience a plus.

Cloud experience a plus.



Education



Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Discipline or equivalent experience

CCNP or CCDP required.



Experience



Typically requires 10+ yrs experience without degree; 8+ yrs experience with Undergraduate degree; 5+ yrs experience with Graduate Degree



Requirements



Travel required, less than 10%

Ability to lift 50lbs

Stand for long periods of time

Ability to participate in an on-call schedule, and after hours work.
