As a Tech Lead Manager at Google, you own and support the needs of one of Google's server infrastructure systems. You're highly technical and work directly with other server and service owners to ensure reliability and sustainability of the Google service infrastructure as well as compliance with internal policies. Success in this role means you are able to support servers in a mixed operating system environment and work efficiently with our internal technology providers as well as other operations groups. Googlers rely on your guidance when it comes to design decisions so you'll have a direct impact in keeping the business productive.



You participate in and lead strategic projects that span multiple domains with the goal of improving operational efficiencies and creating design solutions for 3rd party technology limitations. As a leader of the team, you help your teammates refine their technical skills, perhaps by leading brown bag sessions or tech talks, and act as the final escalation point for on-call issues.



As a Tech Lead Manager of Systems Administrators working on Google's critical production applications and infrastructure, your mission will be to ensure Google is always fast, available, scalable, and engineered to withstand unparalleled demand. You will manage, mentor and guide a team of Systems Administrators. You will operate and develop systems to run Google services such as Search and YouTube, in addition to owning the production services that will drive the performance and reliability of Google.com to the Internet. You will partner with global ISPs and Telcos to guarantee the performance and reliability of our critical content serving infrastructure.



Responsibilities


  • Manage a group that provides remote system administration of Unix/Linux machines across the globe to ensure the reliability of Google’s content delivery infrastructure.

  • Collaborate regularly with partnering ISPs and Telcos to provide technical assistance, remote troubleshooting and IP networking support.

  • Perform as part of a global 24x7 operations team during US core hours.

  • Collaborate with various network and software engineering teams.

  • Ensure the uptime and availability of Google's products.





  • Minimum qualifications

  • Experience in C++, HTML, Python, Shell, Engineering tools and infrastructure, and Networking (TCP/IP and OSI stack).

  • Linux/Unix system administration experience.

  • Management and leadership experience.





  • Preferred qualifications

  • Good troubleshooting and creative problem solving skills.
