Position : Salesforce.com is seeking a dynamic Tax Manager who will join an in-house tax team responsible for all tax matters in the EMEA region.. The EMEA Tax Manager will report to the Senior EMEA Tax Manager, based in Dublin, Ireland and will work closely with the EMEA International Accounting and Finance & Strategy teams based in Dublin, London and Morges (Switzerland).
The focus of this position is to ensure tax compliance across the EMEA territories in which the company operates, to assist in tax planning initiatives and to work with EMEA business teams by assisting them in achieving their goals while managing tax risk for the group. The EMEA tax manager will also be expected to assist with ad-hoc projects including business restructurings, acquisition integrations and tax audits. In this position, the EMEA tax manager will drive trust, efficiency and the communication of information to the controllership organization, US tax team, and business partners in order to facilitate collaboration.
This is an individual contributor role and requires previous experience in tax planning, tax compliance, and business partnership/collaboration. The person should be a self-starter, flexible and able to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Core Responsibilities: : Tax compliance :
- Coordinate preparation of the all corporate, VAT, stamp tax, etc. tax returns for EMEA subsidiaries and branches, including liaising with external preparers and local finance teams;
- Managing EMEA tax controversy;
- Ensuring that appropriate tax filings are completed and filed on time.
Tax advice:
- Point of contact for tax in EMEA;
- Develop professional relationships with key people in the business unit operations, the controllership organization and the international tax team;
- Provide support to business partners by advising on tax implications of business decisions (e.g., VAT and WHT considerations with respect to transactions with customers, etc.);
- Monitor and communicate changes in EMEA tax law;
- Liaise with external advisors;
Transfer Pricing
- Assist the Senior EMEA Tax Manager and US based transfer pricing Senior Manager to analyze transactions and ensure appropriate documentation;
- Assist with the preparation and update of transfer pricing documentation (including preparation and review of intercompany agreements);
- Assist with managing outsourced transfer pricing projects;
- Where appropriate, work with the transfer pricing Senior Manager and the Senior EMEA tax Manager to review transfer pricing procedures/documentation and ensure transfer pricing policies are effectively implemented within the EMEA region;
Tax reporting:
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly and yearly tax reporting under US-GAAP (FAS109), including true-ups;
- Review of EMEA and US tax packages;
- Review of certain FIN48 positions;
- Work closely with US tax team and local finance teams to ensure overall accuracy and timely tax reporting.
Others:
- Assisting Senior EMEA Tax Manager and other members of the international tax team based on San Francisco on M&A projects;
- Assisting Senior EMEA Tax Manager in implementation of local tax planning initiatives;
- Assisting with management of withholding tax issues;

Profile :
- Degree in law, accounting, or economics and post-graduate in tax or similar is ideal;
- At least 7-years of experience in corporate tax matters either gained as an in-house tax manager or Big 4;
- Prior experience with EMEA regional tax responsibilities for a US multinational is ideal;
- Basic understanding of US international tax principles;
- Basic knowledge of tax accounting under US GAAP (detailed understanding can be learned on the job);
- Broad knowledge of European corporate income tax, VAT, stamp tax, and other taxes;
- Knowledge of statutory reporting;
- Keen interest in the business (model) and how its operates;
- Highly structured thinker;
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate tax matters succinctly to management;
- Entrepreneurial spirit, hands-on and a self-motivated personality;
- Good analytical skills, flexible, creative and results oriented;
- Good knowledge of English. Any other European language is an advantage;
- Enjoys and thrives working with and in a cross-functional team;
- Travel in Europe is part of the job (as needed).
