Business Intelligence Analyst, Electronic Payment Services

At Google, data drives all of our decision-making. As part of the Finance Business Intelligence team, you will use data to inform business and product decisions across the company. Using your technical skills, business acumen and creativity, you will build tools to automate reporting and generate insight that will allow clients to quickly and accurately see how our key business products and processes are performing. Previous experience managing finance systems projects, with emphasis on providing business intelligence and data driven insight through reporting, will have equipped you well for this role. You’ll be involved in projects from inception to delivery, ensuring that your reporting delivers high-quality and relevant data to intelligently grow our business. You will also have extensive knowledge of key financial systems, such as Oracle and Hyperion, and experience working with a range of other business intelligence tools and platforms.



As a part of the Electronic Payment Services Business Intelligence Team, you'll be using data to inform business and product decisions across the company. When a feature on one of our products -- from AdWords to Wallet to Play -- gets tweaked, you’ll work with finance, product and engineering teams to measure the impact of that change. Using your technical skills and business acumen, you’ll build tools to automate reporting and dashboard updates so clients can see quickly and accurately how projects are performing. You’ll be involved from project inception to report design through to data delivery, ensuring that your reports are delivering high-quality and relevant data so that our business can grow intelligently.



Electronic Payments Services (EPS) is the team within Google that’s responsible for managing financial operations for many of Google’s products (including but not limited to AdWords, AdSense, Google for Work, Wallet, Play, Glass, and Fiber).



You will be part of a team of advanced analysts as they do two things: support the analytics and business intelligence requests of the EPS team and build innovative solutions that sidestep the data challenges managers and analysts face in managing a multi-product landscape. You will be critical in helping shape the strategy of the team by executing on strategies yourself and bringing new ideas. You will need to be innovative and entrepreneurial in a startup-like environment. You will need to collaborate with other business intelligence teams across Google while managing the demands of business area owners within EPS.



Responsibilities


  • Work closely with EPS management and their teams to understand their information needs, ensuring that BI solutions are an excellent fit to their evolving needs and helping develop their own related skills capabilities.

  • Own and deliver multiple BI work streams, both on an ongoing and ad-hoc basis.

  • Work with Engineering partners to help shape and drive the development of Payments’ BI infrastructure including data warehousing, reporting and analytics platforms.

  • Contribute to the development of the EPS team’s tools, skills, culture and impact for Payments, Finance and Google.





  • Minimum qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, other similar quantitative field or equivalent practical experience.

  • 4 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience using business intelligence tools and languages (SQL, etc.).

  • Experience executing data analysis, statistics or data science for a business.





  • Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in financial services or a high volume billing/payments processing, knowledge of core finance processes (e.g. accounting, billing, collections), together with knowledge of standard finance systems (e.g. Oracle, SAP).

  • Experience with advanced data science techniques (statistical models, machine learning, multivariable regressions).

  • Comfort, knowledge and experience in data warehousing tools, big data and reporting technologies (e.g. Teradata, Oracle, DB2, Hadoop, MicroStrategy, BusinessObjects, Cognos, QlikView, Tableau or SAS, SPSS, R).

  • Exceptional ability to translate technical language into layman’s terms and vice versa; outstanding business intuition and familiarity with setting key metrics for teams; demonstrated ability to multi-task and apply initiative and creativity on challenging projects.

  • Continual interest in Big Data and emerging and established techniques; genuine excitement and passion for developing and analyzing large, complex data sets and converting them into the information/insights that drive business decisions at all levels of the organization; ability to learn quickly.
