Google's custom-designed machines make up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world, and the Global Logistics team procures and manages the resources that power our immense collection. As a part of this team, you apply your knowledge of supply chain principles and your problem solving prowess to key logistics processes (managing vendors, shipping & receiving, inventory management, warehousing & distribution, transportation, etc.). Your diligence ensures the global delivery and life cycle management of network equipment is timely and efficient. You help the networking material supply chain by understanding the unique needs of the deployment team and defining best practices across multiple cross-functional teams. The end result of your work is the delivery of Google's products and services to millions of users around the world.
The Retail Logistics team is looking for a Global Transportation Manager to help assist in driving the hardware business forward. In this role you will have global responsibility for inbound and outbound freight, including import and export compliance, parcel, LTL, TL, Ocean, intermodal, and air freight. You have experience leading transportation strategy and operations for business-to-customer and business-to-business models.
Responsibilities
- Manage all activities associated with domestic and international transportation services, including carrier selection, freight audit, speed, cost controls, and functional reporting.
- Provide direction and expertise on the implementation of cost effective transportation systems and how to improve transportation network speed to end customer.
- Develop and ensure implementation of strategies related to cost, speed and innovation.
- Develop recommendations and partners with 3PLs on network analysis associated with opening and closing of distribution centers.
- Develop plans and implement air freight network model that has the flexibility to scale for peak retail season, and at the same time, handle volume fluctuations during non-peak.
Minimum Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in logistics/supply chain industry with experience in international freight management.
- Experience in 3PL management along with procurement background in logistics.
Preferred Qualifications
- BA/BS Degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to influence others; Capable of working individually or as part of a multifunctional team, including peers and/or senior managers.
- Ability to project-manage, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.

We fix any issues on behalf of customers and partners so that our sales teams can focus on what they do best. We collaborate closely with Google's engineering groups to create technical solutions that enable our sales organization to help our customers' businesses grow.
