Job Description
Dell Inc.'s wholly owned subsidiary Dell Services Federal Government seeks a qualified Linux System Administrator to provide services to mission-critical LINUX RHEL and Windows servers in Washington, DC. These servers host web services, government-wide collaboration tools, and databases and data warehouses. This position will encompass all aspects of the system lifecycle. The candidate will have responsibility for managing our LINUX RHEL servers. It is necessary that this person be able to handle additional duties to help out with our Windows and network infrastructure footprint.
General Responsibilities:
*Use of LINUX system utilities for operational support
*Monitoring of platforms and services using COTS products
*Server-side scripting
*Disaster recovery planning and testing
-Deployment and maintenance of RHEL servers
-Familiarity with Satellite to provision servers, roll out OS upgrades and centrally managed system configuration files
-Ability to create custom packages (rpmbuild)
-Experience with OpenLDAP services, including service replication, creation of custom schemas, account management
-SMTP - Postfix
-Virtualization including KVM, libvirt utilities, lvm snapshot, and rsync
Required Skills
Qualified candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree plus 13 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 10 years of relevant experience
Desired Skills
*Networking experience including firewalls, chain rules, and Proxies. Troubleshooting of networks, including tcpdump.
*File sharing with iscsi,cifs,and nfs
*System backups, preferably with IBM Tivoli Storage Manager
Education
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
