Lead Solution Engineer

Working with our largest customers, the pre-sales Technical Architect engages with IT on multiple domains including architecture, integration, master data management, mobility, security and service delivery. With a strong blend of technical and sales skills the Technical Architect uses a consultative approach to understand business and technical requirements and to work with a customer's architecture functions to educate and map the salesforce solutions to the customer's to-be enterprise architecture. Having a broad IT background the Technical Architect will be comfortable discussing and demonstrating all aspects of the salesforce solutions including hosting infrastructure, security, SSO/Identity, integration and declarative/programmatic extensions to IT audiences up to CIO/CTO level.
Responsibilities:
• Work with Account Teams to develop and execute on the best strategy for engaging with IT to support sales cycles and account development activities
• Advise CIO/CTO/CXO level contacts, their departments, and IT teams as they look to move their business to a cloud based architecture
• Conduct technical workshops and education sessions.
• Manage customer technical due diligence and risk management processes.
• Assist Account teams in responses to RFPs and technical requirements documents.
• Present salesforces.com's technology infrastructure, including demonstrating deep familiarity with company's PaaS infrastructure, security and integration capabilities
• Understand the customer need and establish company's product as the best solution that addresses the technical and business requirements.
• Build and present customised demos using the declarative and programmatic capabilities of the salesforce platform.
• Work closely with other elements of the salesforce.com organization, e.g. alliances, sales effectiveness, product marketing, etc. to develop and execute internal and external programs and initiatives.
• Participate in all appropriate product, sales, and procedural training and certification to acquire and maintain the knowledge necessary to be effective in the position
• Attain quarterly and annual objectives assigned by management
• Willing and able to travel
Required Skills:
• Minimum 8+ years Sales Engineering or equivalent experience (IT, product management, consulting, etc.) with position offered commensurate to experience and skills
• Ability to think strategically and to advise companies on opportunities to transform their organisations based on cloud computing innovations
• Previous development experience (Java or C#, JavaScript, HTML, XML)
• A good understanding of enterprise application integration, including SOA, ESB, EAI, ETL environments and an understanding of integration considerations such as process orchestration, customer data integration and master data management.
• A good understanding of database fundamentals (relational modeling, SQL)
• A good understanding of the security processes, standards & issues involved in multi-tier, multi-tenant web applications
• A good understanding of the principals of network, application and information security
• A good understanding of the architectural principals of web based platforms including SaaS, multi-tenancy, multi-tiered infrastructure and application servers.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Able to effectively develop messaging and materials appropriate for audience.
• Strong presentation skills. Comfortable presenting to senior audiences and at events to large audiences
• Self-motivated. Ability to work independently, manage workload and resource challenges within a matrixed team-selling environment.
• Enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and innovative environment
• Stays current on the latest industry trends and changing technologies.
• Mobile development experience (HTML5, iOS, Javascript frameworks) a bonus
• Certified as a Salesforce CTA (Certified Technical Architect) a bonus
• Big Data, connected devices experience a bonus
