We currently have an opening on our Federal outside sales team for an experience Sales Engineer to work on-site with the intelligence community agencies in Metro Washington, DC.



The Sales Engineer (SE) will be a seasoned professional with extensive Pre-sales technical experience supporting long term customer solutions. The individual must have highly developed people and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work quickly and effectively in a dynamic environment. The position requires an individual who has a strong understanding of server, storage, networking and Data Center operations and technologies. Strong technology and effective communication skills are needed to interface with customers, partners, sales management, direct account team’s and fellow employees. The SE will become a "trusted advisor" at their designated customer and augment the Dell account team with sales and technical expertise. This will include providing pre-sales technical consulting tailored to a specific customer's environment and needs. For example, they can serve as pre-deployment specialists engaged in the initial stages of the planning and execution of a large IT project or roll-out. They not only will provide technical air cover for the account team, but use their expertise and knowledge to help steer the customer clear of various pitfalls and obstacles they may encounter.



Role Responsibilities:



- Customer RFP support (design, creation, planning, etc)



- AVL & Image Certification



- Introduction and presentation of integrated solutions and advanced technologies



- Assist IT departments with large deployments and migrations



- Product Life-cycle transition and management



- Change Management best practices (Bios, hardware, etc)



- Roadmaps and emerging technology updates



- Escalation management



- Discovery and management of systemic issues



- Informal knowledge transfer



- Discovery of new sales opportunities



QualificationsRequirements:

- Preferred Experience: Extensive Windows Server or Linux experience is mandatory, Vmware, Citrix, SCOM/SCCM, LAN/WAN, Security, SAN/DR experience and knowledge

- 6+ years of IT industry hands-on technology deployment experience desired

- Deep understanding and hands-on experience of Enterprise technologies; IT Industry Best Practices and hands-on deployment experience desired

- Strong familiarity with Data Centers, enterprise technologies, Exchange, SharePoint, etc

- Server Virtualization technology, storage (SAN/NAS/DAS/iSCSI) & network infrastructure experience required

- Systems Management, Bachelor's degree & industry certifications (MCSE, CNA/CCIE, VCP, BCNE, etc) desired



Soft Skills:

- Customer sales or technical experience required

- Self-motivated and able to be self-directed with minimal supervision

- Creative, Initiative with high level of ingenuity, excellent communication skills

- Ability to deal with ambiguity

- Identify and initiate new sales opportunities

- Presentation and large audience briefing skills

- Experience in customer interaction and opportunity identification

- Proposal and RFI/RFP development

- Technical writing and diagram (Visio) development

- Proactive in problem identification and solving
