Oracle
Software Development Engineer - Hadoop, Hbase, Kafka, etc.
Greater Denver Area, US - Computer Software
We're looking for an Engineer with software development expertise in core Java. We'd like an expert in the Java ecosystem, someone who can design interfaces, build libraries, and construct effective test suites. Lately we've been really impressed with DropWizard; it represents the style of Java development that we'd like to incorporate more of here. If you despise J2EE and would love an opportunity to write solid Java, and perhaps author a framework, then this may be a great place for you.
We write software to process large quantities of real-time data. Experience and interests in big-data processing, the associated technologies (Hadoop, etc.), and natural language analysis are a huge plus.
The Challenge
Our platform helps clients understand what's being said about them online. This means that we ingest and analyze huge quantities of social media data. We've developed a custom data processing pipeline and a proprietary text-analytics engine, but to meet customer demands, we're continually evolving these technologies. As we increase the amount of data processed and the sophistication of our analytics services, amazing challenges lie ahead.
The Technology Stack
We're using technologies like Solr/Lucene, a variety of NLP techniques, Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA), HBase/Hadoop and other "big data" technologies in addition to our own in-house technology stacks. You'll need to be able to get up to speed on dealing with processing lots of data using a combination of Ruby and Java in a Linux environment.
Very Competitive
