Software Development AdvisorLocation: LondonRole Responsibilities:
Responsible for production release management activities. As part of this team you will own a release from inspection by liaising with development to understand the expected changes and any demand on Production support team. Lining up all required artifacts required for successful release. Running preproduction deployment test and sign-off with –in time lines,
Principal Accountabilities
Engage with development and L3 team to understand the changes, review and advises on required artifacts.
Understand the scope of testing and ensure the development provides release notes and other artifacts are of production quality.
Create weekend release runbook and organize review with stake holder prior to release
Provide training to L2 on changes and create Knowledge articles
Pre-production testing and sign off
Release changes into production on weekend and support user testing
Perform post implementation review and Create problem management ticket for any post release issues
Update BCM documents post release
Perform EOL review
Mandatory Skills - Unix, and Unix scripting ( Shell and perl ) : person should have worked in Unix/Windows server in past and can manage a production application( Memory checks, storage checks etc )
SQL : Person can write complex sql required to provide reports or investigate production issues. Can develop bespoke scripts required in managing production system. Understand Basic oracle Database concepts like BCP, replication, table etc
Advance DBA concepts to help work with aligned DBA to build new database and or articulate DB related issue to seek DBA ‘s help( Backup failing, Table space
Java : should have worked in Java development in past or has good understanding of Java application deployment on Unix. Understand how to debug a Java application , investigate issues using Java logs. Basic Java build and deployment process followed in application deployment.
Advance java concepts like able to articulate and work with development to resolve deployment issues ( Hibernate issue, RTTP etc )
QualificationsRequirements
- Graduate Degree with 7+ years industry experience. - Good understanding of ITIL practices
- Familiar with various application architecture, from client-server to multi-tier web application architecture
- Experience of working with large scale transaction and reporting applications using Java and .Net technologies
- Good RDBMS knowledge, particularly Oracle and Sybase databases
- Excellent SQL and/or PL/SQL knowledge
- Experience on Windows and UNIX/Linux platform
- Knowledge of Autosys
- Ability to quickly assimilate new tools and technologies
- Must have a strong problem solving background with a focus on ownership of issues and a commitment to resolving them
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, customer-focused organization, undergoing change. Flexible and able to adapt to new situations as the business demands with excellent planning capability
Preferences
- Possess a good understanding of investment banking business and processes
