Technical Program Manager, Google Cloud Infrastructure

Greater Seattle Area, US - Information Services, Internet

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

The Google Compute Engine team seeks Technical Program Managers (TPM) to help deliver an exceptional cloud computing experience to our developer customers. As a Cloud Infrastructure TPM, you will work with other leaders, product managers and engineers to deliver large customer-focused PaaS, IaaS and SaaS products.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with software engineers, QA, product managers and other engineering teams to get high-quality products and features through the software project lifecycle (build, test and release on time).

  • Manage project schedules, identify risks and clearly communicate them to project stakeholders.

  • Take responsibility for release schedules and milestones, keeping up a high velocity in a fast-paced environment.

  • Develop tools and processes to improve software engineering productivity.

  • Ensure that the customer’s voice is heard in all product and engineering processes.

  • Minimum qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or another technical field or equivalent practical experience.

  • 2 years of relevant work experience in managing projects.

  • Experience writing software.

  • Preferred qualifications

  • MA/MS degree in a technical field.

  • Experience managing projects in Cloud computing or Cloud storage.

  • Familiarity with Cloud platforms offerings from Google and other providers.

  • Track record of quickly earning credibility based on your knowledge and accomplishments.

  • Passion to drive collaboration and deliver high-quality, highly complex projects across teams.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Area

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We're always on call to keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.
