Sr Performance Engineer, WFM/ESO

JDA Senior Performance Engineer is responsible for the performance support of the Legacy RedPrairie line of Products such as WFM (Retail), ESO, EM, WMS, WFM (Supply Chain), and Vortex Mobile Framework. The person provides excellent problem solving and root cause analysis and utilize the Application and Database Technical expertise to interface with cross-functional teams such as Consulting and Product Development and help to resolve complex Performance and Scalability issues.



RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ø Analyze Solution Architecture and make recommendations in order to optimize System Performance. Provide technical support to the Consulting Teams; this includes best practice design, environment setup and configuration.


• Ø Design and Develop the WFM/Retail and/or WMS Application Performance Simulation Testing using tools such as HP Load Runner and Microsoft Visual Studio Test Suite. Execute and analyze performance simulations in Production Environments to identify and minimize Performance Bottlenecks.


• Ø Write automated tests and build tools that can be used by consulting and product development to identify and fix performance problems. Also provide the necessary documentation and training to use these tools.


• Ø Work collaboratively with Product Development teams to execute performance testing for benchmarking, tuning, and capacity/Size forecasting. Also provide recommendations and guidelines in regarding Performance Best Practices and Standards.


• Ø Utilize monitoring and profiling tools such as MOCA Console, Trace Analyzer, Explain Plan, SQL Server Profiler, Oracle AWR Reports to detect, isolate, and resolve issues proactively.


• Ø Help refactoring poorly performing Application code and database queries.


• Ø Troubleshoot escalated production issues to assist the Consulting, Cloud and Support Team in a timely manner.


• Ø Act as the liaison to Product Development, Consulting, Support and Cloud teams.


• Ø Ability and Willingness to Travel to Support the Customer Implementations (approximately 70%)

Required Skills

• Ø A minimum of 5 years of previous Product Development or Technical Consulting experience with RedPrairie WFM / ESO is required.


• Ø Effective and fearless when troubleshooting of complex distributed deployments involving various legacy RedPrairie Products such as WMS, Parcel, WFM (Supply Chain), Integrator, etc.


• Ø Must have knowledge of database fundamentals: SQL queries, schema design, DB performance analysis (Oracle and SQL Server)


• Ø Strong software development background/ engineering skills, and strong programming skills in MOCA, C/C++, VB/.net, Java and SQL.


• Ø Must have functional knowledge of WFM/Retail.


• Ø Hands-on experience with multi-tier enterprise architecture (MOCA, JDBC, Web Services)


• Ø Experience with tools and Techniques for Performance Measurement, profiling and optimization using JVM/JConsole, Web App Servers like IIS, Apache Tomcat, Wire Shark (or any other Network Monitoring tools), Unix/Linux/Windows monitoring tools, Oracle and MS SQL Server database monitoring tools.


• Ø Operation System (Windows, UNIX, Linux) knowledge – including experience with the Analysis of Performance Counters, process and system monitoring facilities


• Ø Strong understanding of scaling, throughput, latency, resource utilization, multi-threading, and distributed architecture.


• Ø Ability to produce concise documents highlighting the root=cause analysis and recommendations for complex and sometimes challenging performance problems.


• Ø Knowledge of HP Load Runner and Microsoft Visual Studio Test Suite is helpful


• Ø Experience with fundamentals of storage design of SAN, LVMs and File Systems is helpful but not necessary.


• Ø Ability to resolve complex problems with little to no guidance


• Ø Ability to manage customer expectations in regards to technical issues


• Ø BS Degree in Computer Science / Software Engineering / Computer Engineering / Mathematics, or related fields or equivalent work experience.


• Ø Excellent presentation, organizational, written and verbal communication skills


• Travel - approx 70%
