Site Reliability Systems Engineer





Working within the Site Reliability team as an Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for the incident and problem handling of our production environment. Additionally in this role, you will develop configuration designs, deployment guidelines and methodologies to assist in the creation of a stable, scalable monitoring platform for Salesforce's environment. You will provide third line support expertise especially around customer facing issues.



Responsibilities :

  • Monitoring and management of all of the equipment in our Data-Centre during core European Business Hours

  • Incident Management and emergency response to customer affecting events.

  • Systems/Networking/DB and Storage trouble-shooting

  • Liaising with other SR Engineers, Engineering and R&D departments in other countries

  • Assisting in the management of a full Planned Fail-over and destructive testing programs across the Global Infrastructure

  • Monitoring and training of other members of staff when applicable.

  • Change management Risk Assessments and /or Back-Out Plans.

  • Non-routine duties will be allocated as deemed necessary.

  • This is position will include some shift work and weekend coverage.




Required Experience :

  • 2-4 years experience in an operational environment in a medium to large operations centre.

  • Experience in a role with hands on complex Technical problem solving as a daily duty.

  • Experience in networks and Linux will be highly regarded.

  • Degree in Engineering related field preferably with Computer / Engineering modules covered.




Skills required:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Self-motivated.

  • Excellent written and communication skills.

  • Creative problem solving abilities.

  • Ethernet & TCP/IP & OSI experience is a distinct advantage.

  • CCNA/RHCSA or equivalent a distinct advantage.

  • Knowledge of scripting in Perl/Python a distinct advantage.

  • Systems installation and troubleshooting skills will be advantage.

  • Knowledge of network monitoring and other administrative tools.

  • Knowledge of networking technologies and protocols.
