Program Manager, Network Design, Corporate Network Operations

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus. As a Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating goals to project stakeholders. Your projects often span offices, time zones and hemispheres, and it's your job to keep all the players coordinated on the project's progress and deadlines.



You will identify, scope and manage projects that increase the value of Google’s Corporate Network to its users and customers. You will focus on product and process improvements to ensure that Google’s Corporate Network product is well controlled and efficiently designed. You will gather a deep understanding of the Corporate Network’s users and customers, their needs and priorities, and ensure that our corporate products and processes deliver the highest quality and value possible. You ensure our processes result in transparency for user and customer requests, including alignment on prioritization, commitment and delivery.



Responsibilities


  • Scope, plan and manage projects including management of associated financial and human resources, schedules, communication plans and deliverables.

  • Provide management with forecasts of project deliverables and detailed status updates.

  • Work with management to clarify process objectives, design and launch new processes, institute process improvements and ensure the efficient and reliable achievement of process objectives. Abstract, organize and structure process objectives, workflows and key attributes. Automate and eliminate low value work.

  • Work with management to instrument processes for data collection, analysis and metric presentation.

  • Assist management team in developing and implementing an organizational maturity model.





  • Minimum qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.

  • 7 years of experience in IT, business process and/or audit program management including experience in one or more of the following areas: process objective analysis, control design, and process and control evaluation; process instrumentation, metric definition and executive presentation; financial management; software development lifecycle and product management; technical program management.





  • Preferred qualifications

  • Experience and comfort presenting to audiences at all organizational levels.

  • PMP or other formal project management certification.

  • Excellent project management skills.

  • Ability to identify organizational needs, establish priorities, work independently, drive results through informal authority, serve as a trusted consultant to key business partners and represent users and customers in every thought and interaction.

  • Deep understanding of corporate data networks and supporting component features, services and technologies (e.g., bandwidth, authentication, authorization, prioritization, voice, video, WANs, LANs, VLANs, wired access, wireless access (WiFi, cellular), 802.1x, etc.).
