Sales Strategy Associate, SMB New Business

The Business Strategy & Operations organization provides business critical insights using analytics, ensures cross functional alignment of goals and execution, and helps teams drive strategic partnerships and new initiatives forward. We stay focused on aligning the highest-level company priorities with strong day-to-day operations, and help evolve early stage ideas into future-growth initiatives.



SMB (small- to medium-sized business) Acquisitions drives the acquisition of new advertisers (new clients) for Google by leveraging several sales channels (Inside Sales, External Tele-sales, Partners, etc.) and the Marketing Organization. Global Sales Excellence (GSE) is responsible for the Strategy and Operations of all SMB Acquisitions channels. The team leads the design, planning and operations of programs that drive a scalable and analytical approach to generating incremental growth. We work in partnership with cross-­functional teams across Sales, Marketing, Finance and Engineering. Experts in delivering strategy and process improvement, team members are analytical and strategic with a pragmatic approach to high impact delivery.



You will lead projects that accelerate growth and improve Google’s SMB Acquisition productivity. This is a strategic role that will require you to develop solutions to complex, ambiguous and high visibility business challenges. You will partner with the Market Intelligence team to deliver acquisition targeting models, and you will work closely with Sales and Marketing leaders to ensure smooth execution and implementation of these strategic solutions through the sales channels. You will provide analytical expertise and business understanding to the Acquisitions leadership teams. Additionally, you will have exposure and visibility to senior executives and cross­-functional leaders as you evangelize the business opportunity and highlight business growth impact from your programs.

You are a self starter that can "crunch the numbers" one minute and critically think through strategic issues and communicate to senior stakeholders the next. Responsibilities


  • Own and manage the execution of innovative go-to-market projects or sales initiatives across the different customer acquisitions channels.

  • Execute sophisticated analyses and modeling that translate data into actionable insights, and support targeted business growth.

  • Develop data­ driven sales targeting models. Research and analyze key business drivers, trends and operating metrics.

  • ­Identify opportunities for product, program, and process improvement, with a focus on driving significant business growth.





  • Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a quantitative focus in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

  • 2 years of work experience including in an Analytical role or in a Sales and Marketing function.

  • Experience analyzing data with spreadsheet software, database query experience (e.g. SQL), statistical experience with quantitative modeling experience.





  • Preferred qualifications

  • 4 years of work experience in Management Consulting or leading projects in a Sales and Marketing organization.

  • Experience in B2B marketing, business development, sales or strategy SMBs.

  • Project management experience.

  • Analytical mind that is capable of structured analysis of data together with ability to synthesize data into useful formats and bring actionable insights.

  • Problem solving and analysis skills, combined with strong business judgment.

  • Excellent communication skills.
