A/B testing is an indispensable driver behind LinkedIn’s data culture. As the experimentation team, our mission is to build a world-class A/B testing platform and to create an experimentation ecosystem that encourages innovation through trustworthy experimentation rooted in science and statistics. Statisticians on our team contribute to every step towards achieving such a mission. As a member of the team you will:
Responsibilities:
• Develop and improve our A/B testing methodologies and research on the next generation features for the platform.
• Closely collaborate with other team members, including Product Managers, engineers, UI designers and web developers, to ensure the features we build have solid statistical foundation.
• Act as an A/B testing expert both in and out of the team.
• Provide guidance & advice to teams across the company when it comes to designing & analyzing experiments.
• Have a good understanding of our experimentation infrastructure to be able to diagnose data problems.
• Play a critical role in building a strong experimentation ecosystem at LinkedIn. Actively participate in and contribute to our effort in education and evangelize.
Basic Qualification:
• PhD in Statistics or related quantitative fields with strong research experience.
• Minimum 2+ years experience working with gigabytes/ terabytes of real data.
• Expertise in statistical software packages such as R, SAS or MATLAB.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with large scale A/B testing platform in industry
• Experience with designing and analyzing online A/B tests
• Experience in Hadoop or other MapReduce paradigms and associated languages such as Pig, Sawzall, etc.
• Experience in Java or C++ or another object-oriented language.
• Solid knowledge of causal inference, statistical hypothesis testing and common statistical models.
• Advanced skills in a scripting language such as Python.
• Strong data intuition and insights.
• Able to communicate statistical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
