Principal Service Engineer (AWS)

As a Principal AWS Service Engineer, you will work closely with our R&D and Support teams to provide high availability and performance services that enable customer success.
What you will be doing as our AWS Service Engineer:
You will actively participate and influence the roadmap on Capacity Planning, Monitoring, Scaling, Infrastructure, Code deployment, Release planning - and EVERYTHING else that enables our services to delight and deliver for our customers. You will work on our AWS service providers and integrate the products with Salesforce platform.
• Partner with adjacent groups (e.g Site Reliability, Customer Centric Engineering) to understand, appreciate and translate in designing and developing tools.
• Continuous improvement of monitoring and manageability of services in a private cloud environment.
• Working directly with R&D teams, collaborating on design and providing leadership in interfacing with the rest of our operations teams.
• Designing, scaling out services in our multi-tenant infrastructure.
• Developing scripts and applications to automate system deployment scaling and infrastructure.
Desired Skills and Experience:
• Degree in Computer Science or Technical Field
• Minimum of 8+ years programming experience and a general awareness of DevOps best practices.
• Strong Linux system administration skills
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google app engine etc)
• Hands on experience in automating production systems with JAVA, Python or equivalent.
• Experience in AWS products (EC2, Route 53, ELB, S3)
• Working experience in Jenkins/Hudson
• Ability to negotiate with product owners to influence backlogs to ensure that operational points of service are met while they are doing feature enhancements.
• Build/Release Engineering skills with strong exposure to Continuous Integration
• Strong passion towards building tools and systems that enable other developers on the team to build great things.
• Knowledge of monitoring (e.g., Splunk, Nagios etc.) and configuration management tools (e.g., Chef, Puppet, etc.).
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative, and high-growth startup environment.
• Excellent communication skills and take initiative attitude.
