Job Description
Dell Services Federal Government is looking for a Computer Network/Systems Monitoring Analyst in Nashville, TN or Oklahoma City, OK. The Computer Systems Analyst will work with a team of Computer Network/Systems Analysts and will provide network operation support for our client.
The Computer Systems Analyst designs, and implements networked systems, including configurations, supporting/troubleshooting network problems and coordinating with vendors for installation of such items as routers, bridges, concentrators and switches. Conducts feasibility studies on strategic and tactical plans, design of digital/analog networks, and evaluation of network services/technology for current and future network development. Performs complex technical analysis of software, hardware, and network systems, systems integration for front-end processors, multiplexes, LAN/WAN communications, network nodes, switches, and various transmission systems.
Applies fundamental concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments. Performs work that requires practical experience and training. Work is performed under supervision.
(a) Provides technical guidance for directing and monitoring information systems operations.
(b) Directs compilation of records and reports concerning network operations and maintenance. Troubleshoots network performance issues. Analyzes network traffic and provides capacity planning solutions.
(c) Monitors and responds to complex technical control facility hardware and software problems. Interfaces with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.
(d) Provides quality assurance review and the evaluation of new and existing software products.
(e) Provides assistance and oversight for all information systems operations activities, including computer and telecommunications/communications operations, data entry, data control, LAN/MAN/WAN administration and operations support, operating systems programming, system security policy procedures, and/or web strategy and operations.
(f) Provides input to policy level discussions regarding standards and budget constraints.
(g) Supervises all personnel engaged in the operation and support of network facilities, including all communications equipment on various platforms in large scale or multi-shift operations.
(f) Supervises complex operations that involve two or more additional functions such as, but not limited to, network operations, systems security, systems software support, and production support activities.
(i) Monitors and responds to hardware, software, and network problems.
(j) Provides the routine testing and analysis of all elements of the network facilities (including power, software, communications machinery, lines, modems, and terminals) and/or enterprise servers.
(k) Utilizes software and hardware tools and identifies and diagnoses complex problems and factors affecting network and server performance.
(l) When necessary, troubleshoots network systems and recommends improvements to the network.DJAM
Required Skills
-2 years of experience supporting network devices
-2 years experience in customer support
-1-2 years of experience implementing and administrating common TCP/IP-based services
-Working knowledge of common network monitoring and security utilities (SolarWinds, HP Network Node Manager)
-Must be able to pass NACI background check before start
Desired Skills
-ITIL v3 Foundations - Required of all technicians after six months of employment
-Cisco CCNA or Microsoft MCITP preferred
Education
Requires a High School diploma or GED equivalent
Experience
Typically requires 3 years relevant experience without a Degree or Undergraduate Degree and at least 1/2 year relevant experience
