The Search team within Salesforce seeks an outstanding Intern with strong infrastructure backgrounds. As a member of this team, you will be given the opportunity to have direct impact on the most used feature of the salesforce platform early in your career, building disruptive features based on our new scalable search infrastructure.



The successful candidate will design and prototype a small­scale testing platform to exercise our new infrastructure in all the twisted ways we can think of. The solution should leverage recent development in virtualisation technologies and latest announcements about

containerisation, e.g. docker. This position also requires you to be excited about perturbation testing or destructive testing, e.g. Netflix simian army approach.

This topic is suitable for one to two interns, as needed.



Responsibilities

• Perform a state of the art analysis of destructive testing on a cloud platform


• Design and build a prototype of a “search infrastructure in a box” using virtualisation


• Create and execute typical tests scenarios to reproduce failure conditions


• Showcase your work to the whole team

Required Skills/ Experience

• Student in Masters degree in Computer Science


• Proficient in Java or other high level programming language


• Experience with os­level operations, network configurations and provisioning tasks


• Self­starter and high degree of motivation to go above and beyond the task at hand


• Excellent written and spoken communication skills


• Ability to function independently and as part of a team under challenging deadlines in a


• fast­paced environment, convey a strong professional image, exhibit interest and positive


• attitude toward all assigned work, and strive for continued improvement

Desired Skills/Experience

• Experience with virtualization (virtualbox, vagrant), containerisation (lxc, docker)


• Familiarity with testing concepts: randomize, perturbation, destructive testing


• Experience with cloud infrastructure (HA, DR, LB)


• Experience with Salesforce technology / solutions
