Overview:



Lead and manage a team of Database Administrators and MST Database Implementations for one or more of the following technoloy areas: Oracle, Teradata, DB2-ZOS, DB2-UDB, SQL*Server, NOSQL. Responsiblities include understanding of current implementations, standards and partnership with Infrastructure and Application leads, managers and vendors to implement robust database solutions for MST customers. In addition to standards and documentation, compliance with audit and SOX requirements, alongwith stability and performance of all databases supported by the team will be a key focus area. This level of focus will require prior hands on experience in administration of one or more of these database management system technologies including previous experience in implementing advanced technological solutions like clustering, replication, high availability and DR solutions. Good communication and interpersonal skills are a requirement for this postion.

Key Accountabilities :

  • People Management: Lead and effectively manage a diverse workforce of database administrators supporting one or more of the following technology areas: Oracle, Teradata, DB2-ZOS, DB2-LUW, SQL*Server, NOSQL. Ensure team's skill sets and training remains upto date.

  • Technical direction: Provide technical guidance to the team and Customers based on own hands on experience and working knowledge of the resepective database platform.

  • Responsibility: Own responsibility for stability and performance of all databases supported by his/her team; compliance with audit requirements and maintaining documentation and standards.

  • Communication: Establish good communication rapport within the team, with leadership, with customers and HR. Must become well conversant with MST HR policies and procedures.

  • Training: Stay trained on mandatory HR training and keep himself/herself updated of technology trends in the platforms supported by his/her team.

  • Technical decisions in the form of implementing stable, highly available and performing database infrastructure. Legal and Compliance decisions in maintaining standards, documentation, audit reporting, SOX compliance and adherence of self and team to MST HR and Legal compliance mandatory requirements. Leadership decisions in managing a diverse workforce of skilled Database Administrators and partnership with other teams including HR, IFS, FOB, Customers and Vendors.




Skills Summary :

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred and 8-10 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 8-10 years of hands on DBA and design experience in one or more of the following platforms: Oralce, Teradata, DB2-LUW, DB2-ZOS, SQL*Server, NOSQL.

  • Technical skills should include hands on experience with day in day out database administration tasks including, installation, configuration, performance tuning, replication/DR and admistration of the database systems.

  • Basic understanding of systems and underlying storage technology is required.

  • Management skills, inter-personal skills, leadership skills and motivational skills amongs others are part of Job Competency requirements.

  • Microsoft Office, Internet and general Windows desktop skills.




Other Skills :






  • Experience and solid understanding of Oracle database technology is a must. Understanding of Oracle eBusiness and Teradata technology stacks is a plus.
