What's in it for you?
As a TPM for the Hardware team, you will join the team responsible for building programs that support Compute environments used for the testing of new hardware, before hardware is available for use in our production datacenters. You will work closely with Hardware teams, vendor, performance and systems teams, leading program development and definition. You are required to be highly collaborative, to develop stellar cross functional relationships with our team and customers, and to demonstrate strong technical skills, product ownership and business acumen in order to successfully deliver in an agile environment.
About the hardware team
The Hardware team at Salesforce is responsible for transforming the hardware compute layer of Salesforce's cloud to utilize trusted web-scale, highly consistent, elastic, self-healing, fully instrumented, lights-out operation compatible with hybrid cloud.
Our mission is to provide a seamless global, scalable and secure open standards commodity hardware platform, compute, storage and network, that enables rapid agility, availability and innovation engine for all Salesforce companies.
Be a part of the Infrastructure engineering transformation as we move towards an SLA, product/service based, infrastructure on demand provider, for rest of the Salesforce. We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to own and execute new service development of Hardware/Iaas related services. This is a highly visible role ideal for the candidate with deep hands on technical expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for the development and lifecycle of the self service based Product and Services for Hardware and its associated automation portfolio like fleet management, bios & security automation.
- Jointly own the technical roadmap/capabilities and work closely with the stakeholders to prioritize the right projects for achieving our strategic objectives of lights out automation and standardized H/W offerings.
- Create and maintain the roadmap of the Hardware based offerings/services.
- Work with engineering, management and other stakeholders to coordinate the technical development effort, identify interdependencies between concurrent projects, drive the project and being involved with readiness planning.
- Drive the Hardware product features that are highly valued and adopted by the engineering teams that enables business agility.
- Participate in release planning, drive execution and deployment.
- Partner with Product Owner to drive initiatives.
- Translate business objectives into execution strategy (tactical and strategic), lead and successfully execute the strategy through strong collaboration and agile leadership.
- Anticipate and aggressively remove obstacles that slow down or prevent programs from delivering on program objectives. Drive for clarity to keep teams moving forward.
- Develop strong partnerships with technology and functional leaders to drive focus on the strategic program objectives and optimize program delivery.
- Monitor and resolve end-to-end process for things like: repeating pain points/sticking points, blockers. Build plans and mitigations to address pain points to ensure the alacrity of the cloud and/or program.
- Perform in the role of Scrummaster / Product owner where gaps exist, to ensure continued forward progress for the team and the cloud.
- Work with other team members to support a operational teams across multiple timezones.
- Utilize our Social & Adaptive Program Management framework to create a collaborative environment that fosters autonomy, transparency, mastery, innovation and learning; promote continuous improvement
- Anticipate and aggressively remove obstacles that slow down or prevent programs from delivering on program objectives
- Provide "go to" leadership, transparency and visibility to the entire Technology & Products organization.
- This includes supporting and holding resources accountable for their responsibilities within the program.
- Innovate and contribute to the evolution of our Agile Program Management methodology.
Experience/Skills Required:
- 6+ years of relevant technical program management experience
- 3+ years of solution management experience for infrastructure, software, or online services (SaaS experience)
- BS degree IT technology related field (Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline).
- Demonstrated ability towards gathering user requirements across several infrastructure domains and translate them towards shaping the Hardware cloud product vision
- Thorough understanding of infrastructure processes and lifecycle; ability to adjust and apply this knowledge in a dynamic environment using agile methodologies
- Outstanding organizational, communication, interpersonal, relationship building skills conducive to collaboration; able to work well in a cross-functional, matrix management environment
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with a history of hands-on, detail orientation
- Ability to establish credibility and rapport with senior executives and technical and non-technical team members alike
- Ability to successfully collaborate with multiple technical functions in the areas of infrastructure, technical operations, software engineering and customer support.
- Experience as a Product Manager and/or Product management a plus
- Experience as a Scrum Master (or equivalent experience with other agile methodologies)
