As a Legal Intern with a specialization and/or a strong interest in Intellectual Property and Information Technology laws, you will be asked to undertake one or more of the following tasks:




  • Conduct legal research as assigned in such as areas copyright, competition, privacy, and regulation of Internet intermediaries in Australia and possibly other countries.

  • Review draft legislative bills or proposals that may affect Google’s business.

  • Participate in the legal review of new product launches.

  • Review and process a variety of standard legal agreements.

  • Assist in optimizing processes and internal workflow.

  • Any other related task that the in-house Legal Team may request during the Legal Internship.

    Responsibilities



    Minimum qualifications


    • Be currently enrolled in the penultimate/final year of a full time LLB degree.

    • Be able to complete a minimum of 3 months full time internship at Google’s Sydney office starting in either July 2014 or November 2014. We will accommodate your school schedule when determining the start date and duration.

    • Have excellent legal analysis and research skills.




    Preferred qualifications


    • Excellent analytical skills, with an ability to see both detail and big picture issues.

    • Strong interest in recent developments in the field of Internet related laws and knowledge of online technologies and services.

    • Strategic problem solving abilities.

    • Leadership role at university and/or external associations.

    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

    As a legal intern, interning with the Google Australia Legal team will be an avenue to tackle unanswered legal quandaries and create new precedents. Our innovative services raise challenging questions that demand creative and practical answers. We provide those answers by working at the crossroads of the law and new technology, helping Google build innovative and important products for users around the world.
