Community Manager, Local Guides

London, United Kingdom, GB - Information Services, Internet

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus. As a Community Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating goals to project stakeholders. Your projects often span offices, time zones and hemispheres, and it's your job to keep all the players coordinated on the project's progress and deadlines.

There's always more information out there, and often, the information that matters most is what's nearest to you. The Geo team is made up of our geography, search and discovery experts. When we're not mapping the Amazon rainforest, we're recommending the best slice of pizza in your city, providing directions on how to get there, and letting you share your experience with your friends and neighbors. From Google Maps to Google Now, the Geo team helps our users navigate the world around them.

Educating, engaging and retaining Local Guides is the heart of what we do. As Community Manager, you’ll work as part of a team to ensure we’re building scalable community programs, across both your home city and remote markets, to get users excited about taking local actions on Google Maps and other Geo products. The role requires up to 30% travel to remote markets in the same region.

Responsibilities

  • Devise and execute strategic plans to educate, engage and retain locals and influencers with the Local Guides program around the world, with the goal of building communities who will contribute high quality content to Google.

  • Create engaging, locally relevant content across multiple social media channels and via newsletters, to grow audience and increase engagement.

  • Conduct ongoing analysis and reporting of team social media and campaign performance data, shifting team tactics as needed.

  • Execute offline awareness/engagement events, including negotiating partnerships, contests and co-marketing agreements.

  • Minimum qualifications

  • Professional experience building and managing social media accounts for a brand.

  • Experience planning, managing and executing events.

  • Relevant experience in digital marketing, social media, and/or events marketing

  • Ability to speak and write in English fluently and idiomatically.

  • Preferred qualifications

  • Demonstrated creative problem-solving approach and analytical skills.

  • Project management, analytical, written/verbal communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Creative written and oral communication skills.

  • Area

The Geo team builds the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users. More than a billion people rely on Google Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives. That includes sailing down the Amazon river, choosing where to get a bite of pizza, flying over a 3D version of New York City, and saving time commuting. Geo also helps merchants get their businesses on Google, and more than a million developers use the power of Google Maps to enhance their apps and websites.

Geo includes the Google Maps, Google Earth, Street View, Maps for Business, Ground Truth, Zagat, Waze, and Places for Business teams. Together, they are tackling complex computer science problems, designing beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improving the accuracy of our geo data, all in order to plot a course for the future of mapping.
