Principal Software Engineer, Infrastructure Automation

We are looking for talented engineers to join a world class team of highly motivated software engineers and infrastructure experts to deliver a high quality software architecture to solve Salesforce's top capacity and automation projects. They are needed to match the staggering growth of our service. You will be exposed to work with a wide range of core infrastructures like Hbase, Hadoop, Apache Solr, message queues, databases, application servers, monitoring infrastructures, and automation infrastructure.

Responsibilities:


  • Design and implement major pieces of the salesforce.com automation framework with release workflows for system builds and capacity expansions

  • Work closely with quality engineering and technical operations to test and deploy infrastructure enhancements

  • Work and automate across multiple large distributed systems tiers like databases, proxying, application servers, message queues, storage systems, mobile and monitoring systems

  • Resolve complex technical issues and drive innovation that improves system availability, resiliency, and performance


Qualifications:


  • BS or higher degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering

  • 5+ years of Java, Python, or Ruby development experience

  • 3+ years of DevOps focused roles with system, network, and ops teams

  • Development experience with PL/SQL, SQL, Oracle, or other database technologies

  • Innovator with good ideas, strong problem solving abilities, and a results-oriented attitude

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • Ability to learn quickly and deliver high quality code in a fast-paced, dynamic agile team environment


Desired Skills:


  • Rundeck and Salt

  • Puppet

  • SysEng, NetEng, DBEng and Storage engineering knowledge

  • Strong understanding of schema design and SQL development

  • Experience working with automation workflow

  • Experience building out high-performance distributed systems

  • Experience with agile software development, and short release cycles
