Senior Business Intelligence Engineer

The Business Intelligence Engineer will work towards improving the efficiency of the Dev/QA within the organization by developing and implementing new functionality and increasing test coverage of systems that support various business processes at salesforce. This requires the candidate to be able to learn quickly, multi-task and work in a fast paced environment, and have the ability to communicate well with technical and non-technical personnel.



Responsibilities:

  • Strong Data Warehousing experience- Candidate must have at least 4 years experience in data warehousing technologies.

  • A proven track record of interacting with business partners to understand scope and goals, and translating that into successful data products..

  • Experience in Reporting/Analytics tools includes Business Object (BOBJ), Data Visualization Tool (e.g. Tableau & Qlikview)

  • Design and develop data mart that will enable us to bring data from disparate sources, aggregate it and make it available for reporting and analytics. The architecture should account for large data volumes and allow flexible data provisioning for analytical applications.

  • Broad understanding of multiple technologies - These include DBMS (Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server), ETL (Informatica, Ascential, Ab Initio, SSIS), Reporting (Business Objects Microstrategy, Tableau), OLAP (SSAS, Hyperion), OS (Windows, Linux).

  • Hands on experience with at least one scripting language like Python, Shell, Perl.

  • Develop and review design or functional specifications along with their detailed test plans.

  • Able to multitask and work on multiple ongoing projects, with minimal oversight, documentation, and defined process.

  • Experienced at taking vague requirements and crystallizing them into crisp deliverables.




Required Skills and Experience:

  • 4+ years of experience in Business intelligence

  • Hands-on experience in at least one reporting looking like Business Objects, Microstrategy etc.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, outstanding attention to detail.

  • Data visualization tool experience like Tableau, Qlikview or Spotfire.

  • Some experience in scripting or programming languages, such as Python, Perl, Linux shell or Java.

  • Ability to work in an Agile/Scrum environment on multiple projects against aggressive deadlines.




Nice to have:

  • Experience in pulling data from Big data environments like Hadoop using Hive / Pig.

  • CRM experience is a plus.
